On August 26, 2018, Lucy E. Himes of Laurel went home to be with the Lord. She was 90 years old. Beloved mother of Stuart J. Himes and his wife Alison of Laurel and Craig R. Himes of Manchester, Pennsylvania; cherished grandmother of Stefanie M. Stewart, Ashleigh M. Himes, and Noah A. Himes and great-grandmother of Troy K. Stewart. She was predeceased by her brothers Robert L. McIntyre Sr. and Porter N. McIntyre. She is also survived by her nieces Sandra A McIntyre and Melissa Bailey, and nephew Robert L McIntyre, Jr. all from Jersey City, NJ, and nephew Andre McIntyre of Newark, NJ and a host of grand nieces and nephews.
Lucy, also known to friends as “Dolly” or “Lu”, worked as a neonatal intensive care nurse before later becoming a substitute teacher at Surrattsville High School in Clinton, Maryland. She was an active member of the National Council of Negro Women and enjoyed traveling to many different places. Lucy was known to have an artistic nature and it showed in the paintings, drawings and the many pottery pieces that she created.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
